Here is my first finished project of 2009, and I absolutely love it! I’m starting the year off right! The stitch pattern comes from Cables and Arans, so I just put it together into a beautiful scarf!
Pattern – Woven Cables pattern from Cables and Arans
Yarn – Mirasol Yarn Sulka in Colorway 200
Needles – Size 13
C4F – Cable 4 Front, Slip 2 stitches to cable needle, hold in front, knit 2 stitches from left needle, then 2 stitches from cable needle
C4B – Cable 4 Back, Slip 2 stitches to cable needle, hold in back, knit 2 stitches from left needle, then 2 stitches from cable needle
Cast on 20 stitches
Row 1: *C4F* 5 times
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K2 *C4B* 4 times, K2
Row 4: Purl
Repeat this pattern until desired length. Mine measures 58 inches. Block well, this pattern tends to shrink into itself, so I blocked mine out to 4 inches, and it seems to hold that shape well.
Anyways, that’s all I have for now. It’s been a less-than-stellar week around here – we’ve all been sick – there’s nothing like your 15 month old throwing up in her crib in the middle of the night. We got her all cleaned up, sheets changed and put back to bed, and she proceeded to throw up 30 minutes later. This went on from 2 until 5, every 30 minutes or so. Then the rest of us got it. That was Monday, and we’re still dealing with the remnants of it 6 days later. Whatever this bug is, it’s a doosy. Just about everyone we know has had it, starting with my parents over Christmas. Somehow we dodged the bullet then, but we weren’t so lucky this time.
I’m confused. If you are C4F 5 times, but only have 20 cast on stitches, wouldn’t that just be knitting? I’m clearly misunderstanding something here. Any clarification would be appreciated.
I sent you an email explaining this a bit more, and also updated the stitch definitions at the beginning of the pattern. Hopefully this helps!
Hi there,
To achieve the 58in scarf that you have knitted, how many skeins of sulka required? This is a very lovely scarf, I would like to knit it.. 😀
